Audio conversion is usually about making a file easier to share, upload, or listen to. WAV files are excellent working masters, but they are large. MOV files often contain a useful voice track, interview, lecture, or screen recording audio that does not need the video. These tools focus on those practical cases rather than pretending every audio format problem is the same.
The current audio tools run locally with ffmpeg.wasm. That keeps private recordings on your device, but it also means large files use your browser memory. For long videos or very large WAV files, a desktop browser is the safer choice.
Shrink recordings for sharing
Convert a large WAV export into an MP3 that works in email, messaging apps, course platforms, and podcast drafts.
Extract only the sound
Use MOV to MP3 when an iPhone video, screen recording, or QuickTime clip is only needed for its audio track.
Keep the right source file
Keep WAV as your master when you still need to edit. Export MP3 only when you need a smaller delivery copy.
What to check before converting
- Use 128 kbps for speech, 192 kbps as a general default, and 320 kbps when size matters less than quality.
- Mono can cut file size for voice recordings without hurting a single-speaker track.
- MP3 is lossy, so avoid repeatedly converting an already-compressed file.
