How to use PDF Compressor

  1. 1Choose or drop one or more PDF files.
  2. 2Choose a quality setting or target size, then compress.
  3. 3Compare the actual file size and preview, then download your PDF.

Choose the compression that fits your document

Use Keep quality when small text, detailed diagrams, or image fidelity matters most. It optimizes the document structure without lossy image recompression. A well-optimized PDF may only get a little smaller.

Balanced gently recompresses eligible images. Smaller file applies stronger image compression and can soften detail. Text and vector artwork are not deliberately converted into page-sized pictures.

For a specific upload limit, choose a target or open 200KB, 500KB, or 100KB. The result tells you whether the actual file size fits.

What affects PDF size?

Scanned pages and photographs often account for most of the bytes. A text document may instead contain fonts, repeated resources, or document history. Compression depends on these contents, so two PDFs with the same starting size can produce very different results.

In a self-authored test, a 100-page text PDF decreased from 90,956 to 54,296 bytes with Balanced. This is an example of structural savings, not a promise for other documents.

Check before sharing

Compare a page with fine text or images before downloading. For official submissions, inspect the downloaded PDF in your usual reader too. Keep your original, especially when the document is needed for print, archiving, or later editing.

Batch files are processed one at a time to limit memory use. A failed file does not stop the remaining files. Available results can be downloaded separately or together as a ZIP.

FAQ

Why did my PDF barely shrink?

Some PDFs already contain compact fonts, optimized objects, and compressed images. This tool keeps your original whenever it cannot produce a smaller verified result. Stronger image settings can help some files, but not all.

Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?

No. PDF compression and preview run locally in your browser. The site downloads its processing software and may send anonymous usage events, but it does not send your file contents or filenames.

Is this PDF compressor free?

Yes. There is no sign-up or daily usage quota. Each PDF can be up to 20 MB and 100 pages, with up to 10 files and 40 MB in a batch. Processing also depends on available browser memory.

Will my PDF keep its text and image quality?

Text stays selectable and pages are not converted to images. Keep quality avoids lossy image recompression. Balanced, Smaller file, and Target size may reduce image quality. Check important details before submitting your result.

Can I compress a signed or password-protected PDF?

This version does not process encrypted PDFs, signature fields, XFA forms, or documents that need repair. Use an unsigned, unencrypted original that you are authorized to edit.
